The children, staff, parents, grand parents and Parish community enjoyed the beautiful mass and the festivities which followed. The feast of St Thomas More is a most important event of in our school year. Thank you to all who assisted in making the day such a great celebration.

YEAR THREE ASSEMBLY

On Friday 15th May, Year Three held a special assembly for the school. The theme was based on our Stewardship Program and the H.S.I.E investigations we are currently researching on Australia.
The Year Three children re-enacted a parable and sang a great song called ‘Don't Hide Your Talents' by the Dogmatics, which empahsised that we need to share the talents God gave us with others. They did some creative line dancing too!
Next the children shared the story of the Australian Flag. Did you know that the crosses on the flag represent St Patrick (Ireland) , St Andrew (Scotland) and St George (England)?
Year Three finished their assembly with a fun song and dance that they have been learning in Music. They soon had the whole school singing along with them.
A big thanks to all the family members who came to watch the children. Thank you also to Year Three for a very entertaining assembly. We are very proud of you.
Mrs Katrina West and Mr Pat Douglas.
CHILDREN ENJOY ‘INSIDE OUT’
On 11th May the children from all grades enjoyed the entertaining and educational work of Steve Chard and his cheeky puppets. The program, ‘Inside Out’, compliments the peer support program which the children will be participating in during term 2.
LEST WE FORGET
St Thomas More Catholic Parish Primary School was represented at the Anzac Day wreath laying ceremony at Mawson Park Campbelltown by our school captains Luke Billett, Laura Webb and their families. As a school community we take time to remember all those who have died in war, served and who are serving our country so that we may live in peace and prosperity.

SPORTS UNIFORM
PROPOSED NEW SHIRT
Over the past six months the topic of our schools sports uniform has been discussed at both the Parents and Friends and mothers club meetings. The cause of concern has been the quality of the gold sports shirt and the staining and difficulties in washing the fabric. Due to this several meetings with our uniform suppliers have been made and in consultation with parents and staff, a new sports shirt has been proposed. The material in the sports shorts has also been changed. If the proposed new uniform is accepted a transition period to introduce the uniform will be put in place e.g. by the start of the 2011 school year all students would be expected to wear the new uniform. I am looking forward to your valuable feedback.
CROSS COUNTRY 2009

The rescheduled annual cross country carnival was held on Thursday 9th April. The weather was excellent and all children tried their best for their respective teams. Chisholm House (red) was victorious on the day. Special thanks to the many parents who assisted on the day.

GRANDPARENTS ENJOY CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
CELEBRATION

On Wednesday 25th March Grandparents, parents and friends were invited to a special liturgy to celebrate the Feast of the
Annunciation and Catholic Schools Week at St Thomas More. Over three hundred visitors attended the celebration.
Our grandparents enjoyed morning tea with their grand children. Visitors also had the opportunity to visit classrooms
and see first hand the great things the children are doing at St Thomas More.
WATER TANKS ARE OPERATIONAL

Over the last 12 months our school has been in the process of installing rainwater tanks. This is an environmental initiative designed to conserve the precious resource of water. As part of our Year 6 leadership team formation, the children have formed an environmental team and will be responsible for turning on the irrigation system which will water the gardens around the school, using the rain water stored in the new tanks. The St Thomas More Parish Primary School community sincerely thanks the Australian Federal Government for the Community Water Grant, which enabled the installation of the 7 tanks which, when full, will store 23,000 litres of water. We also thank the Parents and Friends for their input and assistance into this project.

POLICE VISIT YEAR 3
On Monday 16th February, our Police Liaison Officer Shane came to visit Year 3. He talked to us about crimes, like graffiti, throwing cricket balls into windows, teasing people and bullying. He passed around some of his things. He had a baton, gun and Police Id card. He showed us his badge. Shane said that to learn to drive fast cars he had to go to a police academy for driving training.
We thank Shane for coming to visit.
